Traffic

Traffic Volumes and Level of Service (LOS)

  • Average Daily Traffic (ADT) for both U.S. 1 and Route 352 is projected to exceed roadway capacity
  • Regional traffic growth factor was utilized to arrive at design year traffic volumes
  • Design Year LOS for weekday morning (AM), weekday afternoon (PM), and Saturday peak hours for each intersection for both alternatives provided on a single board
  • DVRPC’s regional traffic simulation model will be utilized to fine-tune the design year traffic projections for the no-build and build conditions using a selected alternative for each area during the next phase of the design
  • Traffic analysis will be updated based on DVRPC’s traffic projections

Engineering Criteria

  • Both alternatives meet purpose and need
  • Each alternative provides improved traffic operations compared to the existing conditions
  • All existing traffic signals will be upgraded and interconnected
  • Sidewalks will be added for pedestrian accommodation
  • Predictive crash and travel time/delay analyses were performed for each alternative
  • Alternative B for Area 1 requires additional structures, has higher complexity to construct, and one of the ramps will have over 8% slope
